File a claim
Find Federal government agencies and resources
How can Federal employees, including U.S. postal workers, file a workers’ compensation claim and get resources?
File a claim
If you work for the Federal government, including the U.S. Postal Service, and get hurt or sick at work, you may be able to get workers’ compensation. These claims do not go through the State of Connecticut. Instead, you go through the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP).
Also note: The Workers’ Compensation Commission (WCC) can’t give legal advice or pay benefits. The WCC doesn’t provide or authorize medical treatment. If benefits are delayed or denied, you can request a hearing with a WCC administrative law judge.
The OWCP runs four major programs that help workers with disabilities or their families. These programs replace wages, provide rehabilitation, give job training, and more to help workers who experience work-related injuries or illnesses.
These programs include:
Division of Federal Employees' Compensation (DFEC)
Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC)
Division of Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation (DLHWC)
Division of Coal Mine Workers' Compensation (DCMWC)
