Where can I compare electricity suppliers?
Delivery and supply of electricity are two different concepts — and two different parts of your bill. Most people in Connecticut have their electricity delivered by United Illuminating (UI) or Eversource, depending on where they live. For supply, customers are placed on “standard service” by default. However, some customers opt out of standard service and instead choose to have an alternative supplier. These alternative suppliers are also known as “third-party suppliers.”
- Alternative suppliers can sometimes offer lower rates than standard service, saving you money. If you choose to enroll with a third-party supplier, it is VERY IMPORTANT to remain vigilant. Supplier offers have different monthly costs and plan lengths. Pay close attention to these to ensure you are receiving the best price possible.
- NOTE: Delivery costs are the same regardless of which supplier you use, but you may find lower supply costs with different suppliers.
