• Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Statements on Final Approval of Legislation Providing Wage Increases for Workers Who Care for People with Disabilities

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements in response to the 29-4 vote in the Senate this afternoon to adopt legislation that will avert a costly and disruptive strike and provide wage increases for thousands of workers in Connecticut who care for people with intellectual disabilities at group homes and day programs.

• Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Statements on Final Passage of National Popular Vote Bill

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements in response to the 21-14 vote in the State Senate this afternoon giving final approval to legislation opting Connecticut into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, under which Connecticut will allocate its electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins the most popular votes. This compact does not take effect until enough states sign on to guarantee that the national popular vote winner wins the presidency.

• Gov. Malloy Announces Prison Population at Historic Lows

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut’s prison population has dropped to 13,500 inmates. This marks a year-over-year decline of 1,000 inmates, and the lowest level since 1994. The decline in prison population is coupled with the lowest reported crime rates the state has seen in more than 50 years, and the largest reduction in violent crime of any state in the nation over the last four years.

• Gov. Malloy Launches Innovative Microgrid to Help Woodbridge Provide Critical Services During Outages

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, along with Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Robert Klee, Woodbridge First Selectman Beth Heller, and United Illuminating (UI) CEO Anthony J.
