Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the Connecticut Department of Public Health is partnering with the Connecticut chapters of nine historically African American, Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities to further combat COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and increase access to the vaccine within the state’s Black and Brown communities.

Governor Lamont Announces Connecticut Exceeds Five-Year Goal for Increasing Diversity in the Educator Workforce
Governor Ned Lamont today announced over the last five years, school districts in Connecticut have hired more than 1,900 educators of color, exceeding the goal set by the State Board of Education to increase the number of educators of color by 10% – approximately 1,000 positions – between 2017 and 2021.

Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the Connecticut Paid Leave Authority has registered 108,911 businesses and collected more than $102 million in first quarter contributions for Connecticut’s newly established paid family and medical leave program, surpassing initial projections.

Governor Ned Lamont is encouraging Connecticut residents who need help paying last winter’s home heating bills to consider applying for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program. An extended application deadline of Tuesday, June 15, 2021, gives eligible families and individuals additional time to apply for this vital assistance.
