Governor Lamont Proposes Additional Tax Relief: Increase the Property Tax Credit and Expand Eligibility
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the fiscal year 2026/2027 biennial budget proposal he presented to the Connecticut General Assembly earlier this month includes a recommendation that the state's property tax credit, which provides a credit to income tax filers for property tax payments made on eligible property, be increased to $350. Additionally, the governor is proposing to expand eligibility for the credit to include more income tax filers.

Governor Lamont Activates Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol Effective Sunday Evening
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that due to a weather forecast indicating that Connecticut will experience a blast of arctic temperatures and breezy winds over the next several days, he is directing the state's severe cold weather protocol to go into effect beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2025, and remaining in effect through 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Governor Lamont Announces New Programs That Are Expanding Access to Contraception in Connecticut
Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli today announced that a training program for licensed pharmacists who want to be able to prescribe contraception directly to customers is now available in Connecticut. In addition, they announced today that the state's first vending machines providing access to emergency contraception and other over-the-counter medications are also now available in Connecticut.

Governor Ned Lamont, Comptroller Sean Scanlon, and the leadership of the Connecticut State Police and the Connecticut Department of Transportation are applauding the Connecticut General Assembly for voting today to ratify an agreement reached between the Office of the Governor, the Office of the State Comptroller, and the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) that makes the surviving families of state employees who are killed in the line of duty eligible to receive enhanced survivor benefits, regardless of whether that state employee was eligible to receive a pension at the time of their death.

Governor Lamont Nominates Judge William Bright to the Supreme Court, Judge Robin Wilson to the Appellate Court, and 13 Other Jurists to the Superior Court
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is forwarding to the Connecticut General Assembly the nominations of several jurists to serve in positions on Connecticut's courts, including the Honorable William H. Bright, Jr. as an associate justice of the Supreme Court, the Honorable Robin L. Wilson as a judge of the Appellate Court, and 13 other jurists as judges of the Superior Court.
