Renewing your SNAP benefits

If you want to keep getting SNAP benefits, you must submit a renewal form so we know if you are still eligible and if anything has changed. Most people have to submit a form every 12 months, unless you are elderly or disabled. After you turn in this form, we might call you to interview you to understand your situation.

Getting your Renewal

About 45 days before it’s time for you to renew, we will mail you the form to the address we have on file.

To make sure you get your renewal form on time, log in to MyDSS and update us if any of the following has changed:

  • Your current address
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address

You can also do your renewal form online, on your phone, or on your tablet at MyDSS.

Filling out your Renewal

Your renewal form will be pre-filled with the information we have in your case file. All you need to do is update any information that has changed or mark off that you don’t have changes.

If you moved or changed jobs, we may ask you to submit documents to help us verify that what you say is true. The renewal form will also explain what documents you need to provide.

Complete your renewal right away, either online or by mail, even if you don't have any changes. Make sure to sign, date, and submit the whole renewal form so you don't lose benefits.

  • What happens if you renew late

If you do not turn in your renewal forms, you will lose your SNAP benefits. This means that you will not get more money added to your EBT card starting the month after your form was due.

If you turn in your renewal forms late, but within 30 days from when your SNAP closed, you may be able to get back on SNAP and get a portion of the money you would normally get for that month on your EBT card.

If more than 30 days has passed from when your SNAP closed, and you still want to get SNAP benefits, you will need to turn in an application form and start over.
