Medicaid Nursing Home Reimbursement Modernization Acuity Based Methodology

Resources

Effective March 15, 2024, Myers and Stauffer, as instructed by the Department, will modify the notification/MDS Review process for skilled nursing facilities scheduled to receive a Medicaid Case-Mix Review. The updated timeline is in response to feedback from the industry to streamline the notice process and to make the document submission process easier on the nursing homes. The updated timeline is:

  1. Initial notification for an upcoming MDS Case-Mix Review will be provided not less than 30 calendar days prior to the scheduled date of the entrance conference.
  2. Facilities will be provided the resident request list on the day of the entrance conference.
  3. Facilities must upload/provide supporting medical record documentation no later than close of business on the third business-day following the date of the entrance conference. For example, an entrance conference date of March 13, 2024, the facility must provide requested medical record documentation not later than close of business on Monday, March 18, 2024.
