Post Doctoral Training Permits

The Department of Public Health may issue a temporary permit to an applicant for licensure as a doctoral-level psychology provider who holds a doctoral degree in psychology or the equivalent from an education program but who has not yet completed the supervised postdoctoral work experience or taken the licensure EPPP examination prescribed.

The temporary permit shall:

  • Authorize the holder to practice as a doctoral level-psychology provider under the supervision of a licensed psychologist,
  • Be valid for a period not to exceed one year after the date of attaining such doctoral degree
  • Not be renewable.

The permit shall become void and shall not be reissued if the applicant fails to pass the licensure examination. The fee for a temporary permit shall be one hundred dollars.  "Doctoral-level psychology provider" includes a postdoctoral resident or fellow who provides psychological services.

Documentation Requirements:

A completed application and fee of $100.  Applications are only accepted online.  Once you have logged in and verified your email address, please select 'Initial Application' at the bottom left portion of the screen and then expand the 'Public Health Practitioners' grouping.  Locate the ‘Psychologist -Post Doctoral Training Permit’ and select start.

As part of the application process, you will be prompted to upload a photograph of yourself and a copy of your diploma or transcript from your psychology program documenting that you have earned the required doctoral degree.  Please note that the permit will expire one year following the date the degree was awarded.
