The Federal Government has reopened COVIDtests.gov. Every household can order four over-the-counter COVID-19 tests for free. These tests are intended for use throughout the 2024 holiday season to detect currently circulating COVID-19 variants. Please visit COVIDtests.gov for your free test.

 

Before applying for licensure, please familiarize yourself with the general licensing policies.

 

An applicant who has earned a dental degree from a program located outside of the United States may qualify for dental hygienist license provided the applicant has:

 

Graduated from a dental school located outside the United States and received the degree of doctor of dental medicine or surgery, or its equivalent;

 

Successfully completed the National Board of Dental Hygiene Examination;

 

Successfully completed one of the following clinical performance examinations: 

 

The Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (formerly NERB);

 

Council of Interstate Testing Agencies;

 

Southern Regional Testing Agency;

 

Central Regional Dental Testing Service;

 

Western Regional Examining Board;

 

Is enrolled in a dental hygiene program in Connecticut accredited by the Commission on Dental Education and has successfully completed not less than one year of clinical training in a community health center affiliated with and under the supervision of the accredited dental hygiene program.

 

Documentation Requirements

   

Official verification directly from the educational institution, verifying the award of a dental degree;

 

Official report of National Board Dental Hygiene Examination scores;

 

Official report of successful completion of a regional board examination as outlined above;

 

Verification directly from the Connecticut dental hygiene program confirming enrollment and completion of  not less than one year of clinical training in a community health center affiliated with and under the supervision of the accredited dental hygiene program.
