PFAS in private wells

Read time: 6 minutes

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of more than 5,000 human-made chemicals. They are used in a wide range of industrial processes and consumer products. Scientists are still studying how PFAS enter groundwater, and the sources can vary depending on the location and situation.

For basic information and common questions regarding PFAS, please visit the Department of Public Health (DPH) PFAS Webpage and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) PFAS Webpage.

For information specific to private wells, please consult the Private Well Information Section of the DPH PFAS page.
