DMHAS research has received millions of dollars in federal funds to research such areas as supported housing, homeless families, criminal justice diversion, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, consumer-operated services, mental health service quality indicators, substance use disorder treatment outcomes, and the prevention of substance misuse. DMHAS continues to conduct research to understand the processes underlying mental illness and substance use disorders, and to evaluate new techniques to respond to them.
The Audit Division is responsible for auditing claim payments submitted by the Behavioral Health Recovery Program Providers, conducting internal audits, and serves as the liaison with the Auditors of Public Accounts and the Comptroller’s Office when performing audits.
Young Adult Services (YAS) was developed to help young adults transition successfully from the Dept. of Children & Families (DCF) to the adult mental health system and achieve the necessary skills for adulthood. The current population served by YAS includes the most acute, high-risk cohort of young adults in the state between the ages of 18 and 25.
Equal Employment Opportunity Office
The Equal Employment Opportunity Office is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the proper implementation of policies and procedures related to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Health Information Technology (HIT) Division
The Health Information Technology (HIT) Division oversees the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for DMHAS.
Multicultural Health Equity (OMHE)
The Office of Multicultural Health Equity (OMHE) functions to enhance the delivery of DMHAS services for mental health and substance use disorders in a way that acknowledges the impact of individual differences on client treatment, differences such as race, ethnic or cultural background, age, gender, sexual orientation, and physical or mental status.
Compliance and Integrity Office
The Compliance and Integrity Office ensures that DMHAS and its employees meet all standards set by government laws and regulations.
Information Technology supports the delivery of quality services to DMHAS clients by providing all DMHAS employees with the most effective computer support (tools) available.
