Notes regarding Emergency or Temporary Authorizations:
- Insitu Remediation: If the discharge is to groundwater and is associated with insitu remediation, the discharger must file for authorization under the Application for Emergency or Temporary Authorization to Discharge to Groundwater to Remediate Pollution (instructions). For further information on other Remediation Permits refer to: Land Use Permits and General Permits (ct.gov).
- Discharges to Sanitary Sewer and Publicly Owned Treatment Works: If the discharge is to a sanitary sewer, and is composed solely of dewatering or groundwater remediation wastewater as defined in the General Pretreatment Permit for Significant Industrial User, Dewatering, and Remediation Discharges (SIU GP), the applicant must file for authorization under the SIU GP.
- Surface Water and Groundwater Discharges: If the discharge is to a surface water or groundwater, and is composed solely of dewatering or groundwater remediation wastewater as defined in the General Permit for the Discharge of Dewatering and Remediation Wastewater to Surface Water and Groundwater (D2R), the applicant must file for authorization under the D2R.
