Connecticut's Trout and Salmon Stamp

The Trout and Salmon Stamp is a $5.00 stamp ($3.00 for CT residents age 16-17) that expires at the end of each calendar year. The stamp is required for anyone 16 or older who:
  • Harvests trout, kokanee, or Atlantic salmon from any water

AND/OR

  • Fishes in one of the four following trout and salmon waters:
  1. Trout Management Areas
  2. Wild Trout Management Areas
  3. Trout Parks
  4. Atlantic Salmon Management Areas

Trout fishing in Connecticut is steeped in tradition, and as such the Fisheries Division works to provide quality fishing through diverse opportunities appealing to just about every angler and their preferences — wading or floating, harvest or catch and release, fly, lure, or bait, stocked, or wild.

A trout and salmon stamp is required to harvest (keep) trout or salmon in these locations (no stamp is needed to fish in these waters provided the angler is releasing all trout and salmon).
