Does the State collect art created by Connecticut artists?

The Connecticut Artists Collection program acquires and displays artwork by distinguished Connecticut artists. We want to make sure their work is preserved for future generations.

Artwork in the collection can be seen in state government facilities. You’ll see them exhibited at the State Capitol, the Legislative Office Building, community colleges, the state office buildings located at 450 Columbus Boulevard in Hartford, and other locations.

You can view the collection online. We’re going to add more information about the artists and artworks.

Selection Process

An appointed committee of visual arts professionals reviews artwork recommended by curators, museum directors, and others, and recommends works for purchase.
