What does a state troubadour do?
Stipend
Connecticut’s State Troubadour receives an annual stipend of $2,500 for a total of $7,500 for the three-year term. This award is taxable income. If you’re concerned about tax liability, please consult with an accountant. COA does not provide tax assistance.
Responsibilities
- Serve a three-year term
- Be a Connecticut resident during the full three-year term
- Promote Connecticut’s state song, Yankee Doodle
- Serve as an ambassador of music and song by:
- Fostering public appreciation of and participation in song
- Promoting cultural literacy to Connecticut residents
- Perform at three or more public events each year requested by COA, such as CT Arts Day, Connecticut Day at the Big E, and the Arts Heroes Awards Ceremony
- Participate in COA-supported experiences
COA reserves the right to end the tenure of the State Troubadour if the Troubadour fails to fulfill duties or moves out of state during the service period.
Grant Requirements
The state troubadour:
- Enters into an agreement with the State of Connecticut for each year of the three-year term and will be required to:
- Supplies proof of current Connecticut residency status
- Submits a W9 and state vendor form
- Signs a contract confirming compliance with program eligibility
- Credits COA when appropriate in print, audio, video, and publicity materials (press releases, brochures, advertisements, etc.)
- Complies with the Connecticut Office of the Arts Grant Guidelines
- Submits a final report at the end of the three-year term. Annual reports may also be required.
