Jury Finds Antoine Keaton Guilty of the 2019 Murder of Anthony Wright

12/16/2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hartford, CT) - Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford State’s Attorney, announced today that Antoine Keaton, 30, was found guilty by a jury of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a and Criminal Possession of a Firearm in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-217.

Keaton’s conviction in Hartford Superior Court on December 13, 2022 stems from the shooting death of Anthony Wright, 28, of Hartford, who was shot multiple times at close range on Main Street in Hartford on July 12, 2019.

According to evidence introduced at the trial, Keaton had a personal animus toward the victim from a previous incident. On the particular day, the defendant walked past the victim, turned around and shot him six times in the chest and back. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Robert Diaz and Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Stacey Cox. Inspector Luis Rodriguez was assigned to the case. The Honorable Carl J. Schuman presided over the trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for February 15, 2023 in Hartford Superior Court.
