FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(New Haven, CT) – State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. announced that Jason Watson, age 42, of Meriden, pleaded guilty today in New Haven Superior Court to a charge of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a in the 2019 death of Perrie Mason, age 31, of Meriden.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, the defendant is expected to be sentenced to 30 years in prison during a hearing in New Haven Superior Court on January 22, 2024.
Watson’s plea follows his June 2020 arrest in connection with the death of Ms. Mason. Ms. Mason was reported missing on August 18, 2019. On August 21, 2019, investigators found the remains of her charred body in the area of Bay State Textiles in Waterbury where Watson had been employed.
Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Stacey M. Miranda and Assistant State’s Attorney Alexander C. Beck are prosecuting the case. State’s Attorney Doyle wishes to extend his condolences to the family of Ms. Mason and his gratitude to the Meriden Police Department, the Connecticut State Police and the Waterbury Police Department for their investigative efforts in this case.
