Former Bridgeport Man Convicted on Charges of Sexual Assault, Risk of Injury, and Failure to Appear

(Stamford, CT) – Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney Paul J. Ferencek announced today that a jury in Stamford Superior Court on November 21, 2023 found Jose Luis Turcios, age 48, formerly of Bridgeport, guilty of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2), Risk of Injury to a Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2), Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(1)(A), and Failure to Appear in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-172. The Honorable John F. Blawie presided over the jury trial.

According to evidence introduced at trial, the defendant sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. The victim disclosed the abuse to a teacher after reading an article in class about sexual assault. 

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Margaret Moscati and Elizabeth K. Moran, with the assistance of Inspector Christopher Gioielli.

Sentencing is scheduled for February 22, 2024 in Stamford Superior Court.
