Pharoh Jackson Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for 2019 Murder of Corey Gomes

11/14/2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(New Haven, CT) - John P. Doyle Jr., State’s Attorney for the New Haven Judicial District, today announced that Pharoh Jackson, age 23, of New Haven, was sentenced on November 13, 2023 by the Honorable Gerald L. Harmon to 30 years in prison for the 2019 murder of Corey Gomes, age 35, in Hamden.

Jackson pleaded guilty on September 18, 2023 in New Haven Superior Court to Felony Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54c.

According to court records, on December 27, 2019, the defendant fatally shot the victim during a robbery. During the course of their investigation, the Hamden Police Department learned that prior to the homicide, Jackson had arranged to purchase marijuana through another individual with the intention of robbing the marijuana dealer at gunpoint. At the time of the transaction, Jackson produced a firearm and shot the victim during a struggle between the two men. When interviewed by members of the Hamden Police Department, Jackson admitted to shooting the victim during the attempted robbery.

State’s Attorney Doyle would like to extend his condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Gomes and his gratitude to the Hamden Police Department for their investigative efforts.

The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Seth R. Garbarsky and Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Alexander C. Beck, who were assisted by Inspector Michael Mastropetre.
