FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Danbury, CT) – David R. Applegate, Danbury State’s Attorney, today announced that Jacques Carter, age 28, of Danbury, was found guilty by a jury on November 7, 2023 of five counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2)<10, three counts of Risk of Injury to a Child in violation of Connecticut General Statute § 53-21(a)(2)*, one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(1)(A)* and one count of Risk of Injury to a Child in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(1).
Jacques Carter is now exposed to a maximum prison sentence of 175 years to serve with a minimum mandatory of 10 years to serve on the Sexual Assault in the First Degree charges and a minimum mandatory sentence of five years to serve on the Risk of Injury charges under subsection 2.
Evidence at trial showed the defendant sexually assaulted a child over a two-year period when the child was between the ages of 5 and 6 years old. Such sexual assaults involved multiple acts of fellatio, anal intercourse and forced masturbation under physical threats from the defendant.

Sentencing is scheduled for February 6, 2024 in Danbury Superior Court.
