FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Stamford, CT) – Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney Paul J. Ferencek announced today the conviction of Eddie C. Gonzalez, age 36, of Orlando, Florida, for the crimes of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2) and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2).
A Stamford Superior Court jury on October 11, 2023 found Gonzalez guilty of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old child in Norwalk in October 2018.
Evidence at trial included witness testimony and DNA tests that showed the defendant performed oral sex on the child and massaged her buttocks in her home on October 26, 2018. The next day, the child reported the sexual assault to her mother and grandparents who then contacted police.
Gonzalez is scheduled for sentencing on January 10, 2024.
The case was prosecuted by State’s Attorney Ferencek and Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Nemec, with assistance from Inspector Martin O’Reilly.
