Attorney Charged with Witness Tampering, Conspiracy

A South Windsor man who practices law in Stratford and West Hartford was arrested today and charged with Tampering with a Witness and Conspiracy to Commit Witness Tampering.

JAMES R. HARDY II, age 36, of 49 Vintage Lane, South Windsor, was arrested by Connecticut State Police on a warrant issued as a result of an investigation in conjunction with the Statewide Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney.

Hardy, an attorney with offices in Stratford and West Hartford, was released on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court, G.A. No. 1, on October 11, 2019.

He is charged with one count of Tampering with a Witness and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Witness Tampering. Both offenses are class C felonies punishable by not less than one year nor more than 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 on each count.

The investigation is continuing and the arrest warrant has been ordered sealed. The charges are merely accusations and Hardy is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case is being prosecuted by the Statewide Prosecution Bureau.
