Bethel Man Sentenced in Connection with Sexual Assaults on Children

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Danbury, CT) – Stephen J. Sedensky, Danbury State’s Attorney, announced today that Santos Cardona, 46, of Bethel, has been sentenced to a total effective sentence of 40 years in prison, the execution of which will be suspended after 15 years served, with 35 years of probation. Cardona was sentenced on August 16, 2021 by the Hon. Robin Pavia in Danbury Superior Court.

Cardona pleaded guilty to two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in connection with sexual assaults involving two minors that occurred in Bethel between May of 2015 and May of 2020. After his release from prison, Cardona will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and will not be permitted to have unsupervised contact with minors under the age of eighteen.

This case was investigated by the Bethel Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Chiriatti in the Danbury State’s Attorney’s Office.
