New Britain Man Sentenced for Possessing Child Pornography in the First Degree

9/08/2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(New Britain, CT) – Christian M. Watson, New Britain State’s Attorney, announced today that Michael Inzitari was sentenced to 18 ½ years to serve in prison for Possessing Child Pornography in the First Degree. The Honorable Laura F. Baldini sentenced Inzitari on September 7, 2022 after a jury convicted him in April. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Gregory Borrelli.

Evidence presented at trial showed Inzitari possessed 1,395 images and 285 videos of suspected child pornography on one of several cell phones recovered by the New Britain Police Department in the summer of 2020. At the time, Inzitari, a New Britain resident, was on probation from a previous 2012 conviction for possessing child pornography.

“Child pornography, in any format, creates a memorialization of child abuse. Individuals like Mr. Inzitari sustain the illegal marketplace for the sexual exploitation of children which, in turn, further demands more children be subjected to its abuses,” Assistant State's Attorney Borrelli said.

State’s Attorney Watson and Assistant State's Attorney Borrelli wish to extend their gratitude to the New Britain Police Department as well as the Department of Public Safety Division of Scientific Services for their collective efforts.
