FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(New Haven, CT) - Patrick J. Griffin, New Haven State’s Attorney, announced that Albert Eaddy, age 59, of New Haven, was arrested by warrant, and arraigned today by the Honorable Michael J. Gustafson, on the charges of Felony Murder, Murder, Assault in the First Degree, and Robbery in the First Degree (2 counts) related to an incident which occurred on Henry Street, near its intersection with Dixwell Avenue, on or about August 12, 2019. During the incident, Troy Clark, age 46, of New Haven, was robbed and shot to death. Off-duty New Haven Police Captain Anthony Duff was shot and seriously wounded when he interceded after happening upon the robbery and shooting in progress.
Bond in this case was set in the amount of Two Million Dollars. The case has been transferred to Part A in New Haven, with the next court date scheduled for September 14, 2021.
The arrest of Albert Eaddy follows an extensive eighteen-month long state investigatory grand jury conducted by the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office. Over the course of the grand jury, New Haven prosecutors presented testimony from thirty-nine (39) witnesses, and the grand juror received into evidence one hundred eighty-three (183) grand jury exhibits.
State’s Attorney Griffin presented evidence in the matter before the grand juror along with Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Lisa D’Angelo, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Seth Garbarsky, and former Assistant State’s Attorney Reed Durham. Inspectors Alfonso Vazquez and Scott Stevenson of the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office worked in conjunction with New Haven Police Department Detectives in locating and interviewing witnesses appearing before the grand juror.
At this time, the charges against Albert Eaddy are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
