FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Danbury, CT) – David R. Applegate, Danbury Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that the Honorable Charles M. Stango on August 5, 2024, sentenced Jacques Carter, age 29 of Danbury, to 28 years in prison, execution suspended after 15 years, followed by 25 years of probation, for repeated sexual assaults on a child.
Carter was found guilty by a Superior Court jury on November 7, 2023 of five counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2)<10, three counts of Risk of Injury to a Child in violation of Connecticut General Statute § 53-21(a)(2)*, one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(1)(A)* and one count of Risk of Injury to a Child in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(1).
Evidence at trial showed the defendant sexually assaulted a child over a two-year period when the child was between the ages of 4 and 7 years old. The sexual assaults involved physical threats from the defendant.
