FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Waterbury, CT) – Maureen T. Platt, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Waterbury, today announced that a jury in Waterbury Superior Court on July 26, 2024, found Elijah Bertrand, age 22, of Bristol, guilty of the crime of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a. The Honorable Hunchu Kwak presided over the jury trial.
According to evidence introduced at trial, Bertrand stabbed Nathan Burk to death on December 22, 2020 while the victim, a delivery driver, was returning a truck to a work facility in Watertown.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Marc Ramia, with assistance from Inspector Gary Pelosi.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 18, 2024 in Waterbury Superior Court.
