7/31/2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(New Haven, CT) – New Haven State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr., announced that the Honorable Jon M. Alander today sentenced Daren Sarcione, age 55, of Hamden, to 15 years in prison, suspended after 10 years to serve, followed by 10 years of probation, for a 2021 sexual assault in Hamden.

On June 6, 2023, a jury in New Haven Superior Court convicted Sarcione of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(1), Sexual Assault in the Third Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-72a(a)(2), and Unlawful Restraint in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-95.

Evidence presented at trial showed that Sarcione held the complainant down on a bed and forcibly sexually assaulted her in Hamden in July of 2021.

The case was investigated by the Hamden Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly Davis and Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Danielle Hottin, who were assisted by Inspector Racheal Cain.
