Chief State’s Attorney Patrick J. Griffin announced today the appointment of Lisa M. D’Angelo to Executive Assistant State’s Attorney, serving as the Director of the new Office of Ethics and Professional Standards.
As Director of the Office of Ethics and Professional Standards, a newly created position within the Division, Executive Assistant State’s Attorney D’Angelo will serve as the Division’s counsel in all matters and questions related to ethical conduct and professional standards. Executive Assistant State’s Attorney D’Angelo will be responsible for directing the development, implementation and evaluation of updated ethical and professional standards for the Division and the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of in-service staff development and training for prosecutors, inspectors and other Division staff.
“In the coming months, as we begin to review current policies and implement new procedures, the fundamental goal of the Division of Criminal Justice policy development must be to promote public confidence in our prosecutorial decisions and in the exercise of our prosecutorial discretion,” Chief State’s Attorney Griffin said. “We must make every effort to assure the public that our decisions are based on a rational and an objective evaluation of every single charge and of every single case.”
Executive Assistant State’s Attorney D’Angelo also will serve as the Division’s primary contact with the Police Officer Standards and Training Council and other law enforcement agencies.
“A key component of instilling public confidence is our commitment to a rigorous professional development program for our employees as well as partnering with law enforcement agencies in the development of training initiatives,” Chief State’s Attorney Griffin said. “Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role. I look forward to the important work she will do overseeing the Division’s expanded efforts to promote ethical and professional standards.”
Executive Assistant State’s Attorney D’Angelo most recently served as a Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of New Haven. She joined the Division of Criminal Justice in 2005 as a Special Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Regionalized Infractions Program and by 2006, she was working as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Geographical Area No. 23. In 2014, she moved to the Judicial District of New Haven where she was promoted to Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney in 2021.
Executive Assistant State’s Attorney D’Angelo earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Connecticut and a Juris Doctor Degree from the Quinnipiac University School of Law.
