Milford Man Charged with Larceny

7/12/2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Rocky Hill, CT) - A Milford man has been arrested and charged with fraudulently issuing checks totaling $11,434.70 to a bail bonds company through a bill pay service.

Jason Turoczi, age 40, of Milford, was arrested today by Inspectors from the Statewide Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney. He was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Larceny in the Second Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-49/53a-123, which is a Class C Felony punishable from 1 to 10 years in prison and/or up to a $10,000 fine.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Statewide Prosecution Bureau.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, in November 2021, Turoczi wrote 19 checks totaling $11,434.70 to a Bridgeport bail bonds company through a mobile banking app bill pay service. The bill pay service sent the checks, which were issued through a bank account, directly to the bail bonds company. The total amount of the checks “grossly exceeded” Turoczi’s bank account balance.

Turoczi, who is currently in state custody with 21 cases pending in nine different Judicial Districts, is being held on a $15,000 bond for this case. The charges against him are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty.
