FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(New Haven, CT) - New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. today announced that the Honorable Gerald L. Harmon on June 26, 2024 sentenced Christian Lorig, age 36, of East Haven, to 20 years in prison, execution suspended after 10 years served, and 10 years of sexual offender probation. The victims and their families were present and spoke at the sentencing hearing in New Haven Superior Court.
On April 3, 2024, Lorig pleaded guilty to two counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-71(a)(4) and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2). The factual basis of the plea included allegations that Lorig sexually assaulted two children under the age of 10 in Branford, East Haven, and Ledyard between 2015 and 2019.
The cases were prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Alexander C. Beck and Assistant State’s Attorney Melissa R. Holmes, with assistance from Inspector Sean Faughnan.
State’s Attorney Doyle would like to express his gratitude to the East Haven, Branford, and Mashantucket Police Departments for their investigative efforts and to the state Department of Children and Families and the Yale-New Haven Hospital Child Abuse Clinic for their assistance in this case.
“The New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office is grateful for the collaborative partnership our office has with police and child welfare authorities, all dedicated to stopping these horrific acts against the most vulnerable and ensuring accountability for those who victimize our children," State’s Attorney Doyle said.
