FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(New London, CT) – Paul J. Narducci, New London State’s Attorney, announced today that the Honorable Shari Murphy on June 20, 2023, sentenced Christopher Petteway to 65 years in prison for the October 4, 2018 murder of Robert Parise.
A Superior Court jury on April 4, 2023 found Petteway, age 47, guilty of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a and Violation of a Standing Criminal Protective Order in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-223a, following a five-day trial that detailed how Petteway had traveled from Bridgeport, confronted Parise and stabbed him multiple times resulting in Parise’s death.
The New London State's Attorney's Office is grateful to the New London Police Department, both the Eastern District and Western District Major Crime Squads of the Connecticut State Police, the State Division of Scientific Services, the Office of Adult Probation, the State Judicial Marshals, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for their invaluable assistance on the case.
“The State's Attorney's Office hopes that this sentence will bring some comfort to the Parise family for their tragic loss," State’s Attorney Narducci said.
The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Stephen M. Carney, with assistance from Inspector Stephen Burstein.
