FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Hartford, CT) - Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford State’s Attorney, announced today that on June 13, 2023, the Honorable David P. Gold sentenced Lori Ann Lee, age 59, of Glastonbury, to 15 years in prison, suspended after 7 ½ years served, followed by 5 years of probation. Judge Gold also ordered a 20-year Standing Criminal Protective Order in the case prohibiting Lee from having contact with the victim.
Lee pleaded guilty on March 21, 2023 in Hartford Superior Court to Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-59(a)(3).
According to court records, on November 3, 2021, Glastonbury Police were dispatched to a home for a domestic complaint. Upon arrival, police encountered a victim who was struck by a hatchet and was bleeding significantly. When officers approached Lee, she stated on her own that she had done “the wrong thing.” According to Lee, she and her wife had a verbal argument. Lee stated that she got “so mad," went into the garage, and returned to the house with the hatchet, striking her wife in the head, neck, and back area with the “bad end” of the hatchet, causing significant injuries. Her wife was taken to the hospital and survived her injuries.
The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Robert Diaz with the assistance of Inspector Joseph Buyak.
