(New Haven, CT) - John P. Doyle, Jr., New Haven State’s Attorney, announced today that a jury on June 5, 2023 in New Haven Superior Court found Daren Sarcione, age 55, of Hamden, guilty of the crimes of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(1), Sexual Assault in the Third Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-72a(a)(2), and Unlawful Restraint in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-95. The Honorable Jon M. Alander presided over the jury trial.
According to evidence introduced at trial, Sarcione held the complainant down on a bed and sexually assaulted her in Hamden on July 18, 2021.
The case was investigated by the Hamden Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly Davis and Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Danielle Hottin, who were assisted by Inspector Racheal Cain.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 31, 2023 in New Haven Superior Court.
