FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Litchfield, CT) - Litchfield Judicial District State’s Attorney David R. Shannon announced that the Honorable Jason M. Lobo today sentenced Michael R. Mansfield, age 65, of Winchester, to 25 years in prison, execution suspended after 19 years served, followed by 15 years of probation. Mansfield also was ordered to register with the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry.
A Superior Court jury on March 27, 2024 convicted Mansfield of one count of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2), one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(1)(A) and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2) after a three-day trial. The verdicts were reached in under two hours.
According to evidence introduced at trial, the defendant sexually assaulted a female victim for a period of about four years, between 2012 and 2016, while the victim was between the ages of 7 and 11. The assaults occurred in the defendant’s home in Winsted.
The case was investigated by the Winchester Police Department, and was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Terri L. Sonnemann, with assistance from Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Alessandra Santacroce, Paralegal Specialist Melissa Brewer, and Inspector Forrest J. Beaulieu.
