FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(New London, CT) - New London State’s Attorney Paul J. Narducci announced today that the Honorable Hillary B. Strackbein on May 9, 2023 sentenced Jamir Johnson to 33 years in prison, suspended after 17 years served and five years of probation, for the December 2017 fatal shooting of Quvante Gray, age 21, in New London.
Johnson, age 23, of New London, had pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-55a and Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 29-35(a).
According to court records, New London police officers, responding to an emergency-911 call, found the victim's body inside an apartment located at 4 Orchard Street, on December 9, 2017. He had been shot one time in the head. Johnson fled the scene and was apprehended several months later in Massachusetts.
This case was prosecuted by State's Attorney Narducci and by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Thomas M. DeLillo, with assistance from Inspector Stephen Burstein.
