(New London, CT) – Paul J. Narducci, New London State’s Attorney, announced today the sentencings of Sergio Correa and Ruth Correa for the December 20, 2017 murders of Kenneth Lindquist, Janet Lindquist and Matthew Lindquist in Griswold.
Superior Court Judge Hunchu Kwak during a hearing in New London on May 3, 2022 sentenced Sergio Correa, 30, to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 105 years of incarceration. Also on May 3, 2022, Superior Court Judge Hillary B. Strackbein sentenced Ruth Correa to 40 years in prison. Ruth Correa had pleaded guilty in May 2021 to three counts of Felony Murder pursuant to a plea agreement.
Following a jury trial in December 2021, Sergio Correa was found guilty of multiple charges, including Murder with Special Circumstances. Evidence from the trial, which took place over 16 days, detailed that Sergio Correa and Ruth Correa traveled from Hartford to Griswold where they brutally murdered the Lindquists, stole numerous items from their home and then set fire to the residence.
State’s Attorney Narducci reiterated that “our thoughts are with the Lindquist family at this time. We hope that these sentences bring them some peace after the suffering that they have endured.
“We again would like to thank the Connecticut State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the State Division of Scientific Services, the CSP Fire Explosion Investigation Unit and the Glastonbury Police Department. Their assistance was invaluable.”
The cases were prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Stephen M. Carney, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Thomas M. DeLillo, Assistant State’s Attorney Marissa N. Goldberg, Supervisory Inspector Merritt D’Amico (now retired) and former New London State’s Attorney Michael L. Regan, with assistance from the Office of the Chief State's Attorney Appellate Bureau.
