FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Torrington, CT) – Judicial District of Litchfield State’s Attorney David R. Shannon today announced that a jury in Torrington Superior Court on April 24, 2024 found Samuel Jacobs, age 30, of Torrington, guilty of the crimes of Burglary in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-101(a)(3), two counts of Burglary in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-101(a)(2), and Possession of a Controlled Substance, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 21a-279(a)(1). The Honorable Judge Brian Preleski presided over the jury trial.
According to evidence introduced at trial, the defendant assaulted a female and a male in Torrington on November 30, 2019 after unlawfully entering the woman’s residence. At the time of Jacob’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of cocaine. In addition to this verdict, in a separate hearing, Judge Preleski found that Samuel Jacobs violated the conditions of his probation. Sentencing is scheduled for July 25, 2024, in Torrington Superior Court.
The case was investigated by the Torrington Police Department, and was prosecuted by Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Alessandra Santacroce, with assistance from Inspector Mark Puglielli and Paralegal Specialist Melissa Brewer.
