(New Haven, CT) - John P. Doyle Jr., New Haven State’s Attorney, announced that a jury today in New Haven Superior Court found Larry Makins, age 35, of New Haven, guilty of the crimes of Attempted Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes Sections § 53a-49 (a)(2) and § 53a-70(a)(1) and Burglary in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes Section § 53a-101(a)(3). The victim fought off the attacker, exited the apartment and ran to a neighbor for help. Police used written medication prescriptions Makins had dropped inside the apartment at the time of the attack and DNA evidence to link him to the crime.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 27, 2023 in New Haven Superior Court.
