Garry Ramsey Sentenced to 35 Years in Prison for Fatal 2021 Stabbing of Robert Callahan

4/05/2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hartford, CT) – Hartford State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott announced today that Garry Ramsey, age 58, of Hartford, was sentenced on April 4, 2023 by the Honorable Kevin C. Doyle to 35 years in prison for the stabbing death of Robert Callahan, 68, of West Hartford, in Manchester on June 5, 2021.

A Superior Court jury on February 7, 2023 found Ramsey guilty of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-54a.

Evidence presented at trial showed that Ramsey went to a Manchester home searching for an acquaintance. When the victim refused to let him in, Ramsey forced entry into the home and ultimately fatally stabbed the victim.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Mr. Callahan at this time and we hope that with this sentence of the Court, they can find some peace," State’s Attorney Walcott said. "We are grateful to the Manchester Police Department for their work on this investigation."

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Samantha Magnani and Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney John F. Fahey, with assistance from Inspector Luis Rodriguez.
