(Waterbury, CT) – Waterbury State’s Attorney Maureen T. Platt announced today that Christopher Iverson has been sentenced to 105 years in prison for the stabbing death of Solita Billups and the attempted murder of her young son in their Waterbury home on August 28, 2018.
Iverson, 54, of Waterbury, was sentenced by the Honorable Hunchu Kwak on February 22, 2023 in Waterbury Superior Court.
On November 23, 2022, a Superior Court jury convicted Iverson of the crimes of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a, Attempted Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-49(a)(2) and 53A-54a, Arson in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-111(a)(1) and Burglary in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-101.
According to evidence introduced at the trial, Iverson fatally stabbed the victim 26 times and struck her son, who was 11 years old at the time, in the head several times while he was bound to a chair before setting their Waterbury home on fire.

The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Don E. Therkildsen, Jr. and Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Alexandra Arroyo.
