FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The State’s Attorney’s Office for the Judicial District of Hartford, with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the use of deadly physical force resulting in the death of Christopher Hagans on February 5, 2021 in Stratford.
In a continued effort to remain consistent with the Division of Criminal Justice’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Hartford State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott, who was assigned to conduct the investigation and determine if the use of force was justified under state law, today released dashboard camera video of the incident.
“At this time, the investigation is ongoing and while we will strive to complete the investigation as quickly as possible, our primary goal is to ensure that the investigation is thorough and complete,” State’s Attorney Walcott said. “Pursuant to General Statutes Section 51-277a(c), the Division of Criminal Justice will issue a final report upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
Following a meeting Monday with family members of Mr. Hagans to extend condolences and show relatives body-worn camera footage of the incident, State’s Attorney Walcott met again today with Mr. Hagans’ family so they could review the dashboard camera footage before it was released publicly.
