FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Rocky Hill, CT) – A Stafford woman has been charged with stealing $4,531 from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) administered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services.
Brenda Flores, age 33, was arrested on February 1, 2023 by Inspectors from the Statewide Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State's Attorney on a warrant and charged with Larceny in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes §53a-122.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Flores received $4,531 in SNAP benefits that she was not entitled to receive from June 2021 to March 2022. Flores is alleged to have failed to report a legally liable relative that she was residing with, along with the legally liable relative’s income, in order to receive SNAP benefits. Flores was released on a promise to appear in Hartford Superior Court, G.A. No. 14, on February 10, 2023.
The charges are merely accusations and Flores is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Connecticut Department of Social Services investigative division submitted the arrest warrant application for Flores’ arrest. The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Susan Hatfield of the Statewide Prosecution Bureau.
