New Britain Man Convicted of Sexual Assault, Risk of Injury Charges

(New Britain, CT) – Christian M. Watson, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Britain, announced today that on January 13, 2023, a New Britain Superior Court jury found Giovanni Diaz, age 34, of New Britain, guilty of one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70c, two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree of a Victim Under 13 in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2) and two counts of Risk of Injury to Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2).

 

Sentencing is scheduled for March 28, 2023 in New Britain Superior Court before the Honorable Laura F. Baldini.

 

The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Helen J. McLellan and Senior Assistant State’s Attorney David Clifton, with assistance from Inspector Felix Perez.
