FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Middletown, CT) –Michael A. Gailor, State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Middlesex, announced today that Lawrence Lee Henderson, 41, of Middletown, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by 10 years of special parole for his role in a September 2020 home invasion in Middletown. Henderson was sentenced on January 10, 2022 by the Honorable Vernon D. Oliver in the Superior Court for the Judicial District of Middlesex.
Following a jury trial, Henderson was found guilty of the charge of Home Invasion, a Class A felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a maximum fine of up to $20,000. According to evidence presented at trial, Henderson and another individual forced their way into the victim’s Middletown apartment at about 11 p.m. on September 6, 2020. The victim testified that he was getting ready for bed when the incident occurred. After gaining entry, Henderson restrained the victim while the other individual searched the home for valuables.
During the course of the incident, the victim suffered various injuries including a laceration to the head. He refused medical attention. With the assistance of a K-9 Unit, Middletown Police Officers were able to locate Henderson a short distance away from the apartment, hiding in some bushes. While police were not able to identify the other individual involved, they were able to take Henderson into custody without further incident and without any additional harm to citizens or officers.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Kevin M. Shay.
