(Waterbury, CT) – Maureen T. Platt, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Waterbury, today announced that a jury in Waterbury Superior Court on September 25, 2024, found John Ramos, age 33, of Waterbury, guilty of two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2) and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2). The Honorable Corinne L. Klatt presided over the jury trial.
According to evidence introduced at trial, Ramos sexually assaulted a minor at a Waterbury apartment complex between 2011 and 2012. The victim reported the sexual assault to police in 2017. Ramos had previously been convicted of a sexual assault involving another child and had recently been released from prison.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Marc Ramia, with assistance from Inspector Orlando Rivera.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 18, 2024 in Waterbury Superior Court.
