Norwich Man Found Guilty of 2020 Assault and Robbery in East Lyme

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2/13/2025

(New London, CT) – Paul J. Narducci, State’s Attorney for the New London Judicial District, today announced that a Superior Court jury on February 10, 2025 found Jerod White III, age 31, of Norwich, guilty of charges of Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-59(a)(1), and Robbery in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-134(a)(1), stemming from a 2020 assault and robbery in East Lyme. The Honorable Elizabeth C. Leaming presided over the case.

Evidence from the trial showed that the defendant and two other individuals attacked a 28-year-old man during a bonfire in the woods near Ravenswood Trail in East Lyme on October 5, 2020. The victim was beaten with a wooden object and punched in the head and face. Before fleeing the scene, the attackers stole a bag from the victim that contained the victim’s money and jewelry. The victim suffered serious injuries but managed to crawl out of the woods and requested help from a passerby.

Sentencing for White is scheduled for April 21, 2025 in New London Superior Court.

The New London State’s Attorney’s Office would like to thank the East Lyme Police Department and the Connecticut State Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection - Division of Scientific Services for their work in this case.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Marissa N. Goldberg, with assistance from Inspector Robert Pickett.
