(New Haven, CT) – New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. announced that a jury in New Haven Superior Court today found Frankie DeJesus, age 28, of Waterbury, guilty of the crime of Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a. The Honorable Maureen M. Keegan presided over the trial.
The jury concluded, on the basis of witness testimony, as well as scientific and cell phone evidence introduced at trial, that DeJesus was responsible for the death of William Beltran, age 18, of Waterbury, on Willow Street in Waterbury on July 20, 2022. DeJesus, a previously convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing a firearm. DeJesus was apprehended by the Waterbury Police Department on July, 25, 2022 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The case was investigated by the Waterbury Police Department and prosecuted in New Haven by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Gregory L. Borrelli and State’s Attorney Doyle, who were assisted by Inspector Michael Mastropetre and Paralegal Specialist Diane Kosiorek.
State’s Attorney Doyle would like to extend his gratitude to Lead Detective Cathleen Knapp and the Waterbury Police Department, the Office of the Chief Medical (OCME) and the Division of Scientific Services (DSS) within the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), particularly the Firearm and DNA analysis sections, as well as the New Haven Office of the FBI for their analysis of cellphone and cellphone data.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 16, 2025, in New Haven Superior Court.
