(New Haven, CT) - John P. Doyle Jr., State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven, announced that Ronald Little, age 47, of New Haven, was sentenced today by the Honorable Peter L. Brown to 55 years in prison for the fatal shooting of Michael Wint, age 33, of New Haven, in January 2023.

A Superior Court jury in New Haven on May 23, 2025 found Little guilty of Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a. In a separate proceeding which was tried to the court, Judge Brown found Little guilty of Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 29-35(a), Criminal Possession of a Firearm, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-217(a)(1), and Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 29-38.

According to evidence introduced at trial, the defendant shot the victim shortly after 1 a.m. on January 21, 2023 in New Haven. The defendant fired at the victim while he was sitting in a vehicle. There was no argument or precipitating event for the murder.

A previously convicted felon, Little is prohibited under Connecticut law from possessing firearms.

The case was investigated by the New Haven Police Department and was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorneys Charles Johnson and Melissa Holmes, who were assisted by Inspector Sean Faughnan.

State’s Attorney Doyle would like to extend his condolences to the Wint family and his gratitude to the New Haven Police Department for their investigative efforts.
