(New Haven, CT) - John P. Doyle, Jr., State’s Attorney for the New Haven Judicial District, today announced that the Honorable Thomas V. O’Keefe, Jr. on June 4, 2025 sentenced Ronald Iannucci, Jr. age 53, of North Haven, to 40 years in prison, suspended after eight years served, and 20 years of probation.
Iannucci pleaded guilty on April 1, 2025 in Superior Court in Meriden to four counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-71(a)(1) and three counts Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2). A police investigation showed the defendant repeatedly sexually abused a boy when he was 14 and 15 years old. In his sentencing remarks, Judge O'Keefe proclaimed that he had no doubt that the defendant did everything he was accused of. Judge O'Keefe also noted that the defendant was given opportunity to accept responsibility at sentencing and chose not to do so. In addressing the victim directly, Judge O'Keefe noted “you did absolutely nothing wrong and should have nothing to be ashamed of. You are a brave, young guy.”
State’s Attorney Doyle wishes to extend his gratitude to the North Haven Police Department and Wallingford Police Department for their investigation of this case.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant States Attorney Nichol Peco and Deputy Assistant States Attorney Michael Errichetti, with the assistance of Investigator Lisa Fernandes.
At the sentencing hearing, Senior Assistant State's Attorney Peco noted the people who helped the victim, including a mailman who noticed the child was upset and helped him report the crime to the police and a school resource officer. She also credited the North Haven Police Department for their excellent investigation of the matter.
